Travelling through waters is one of the best ways to travel the entire globe, and boats are the best options when it comes to travel via water.

You might have your minds blown, when I tell you there is one boat that has travelled the most part of the world without using even a single drop of fossil fuel.

So let us Began with the introduction to one of the biggest break through in the marine and boating Industry, the ENERGY OBSERVER.

Before starting, Lets talk numbers about it:

1. 4 years of sailing (2017-2020)[France-2017, Mediterranean-2018, Northern Europe-2019, Atlantic-2020]

2. 30,000 + Nautical miles (i.e.55560 Km. and Just for reference Earths diameter is 12742km)

3. Travelled 28 Countries.

4. 1 Trans-Atlantic crossing.

5. 1 Sailing, Zero Emissions, Zero Fine particles, Zero Noise. [A complete clean journey]

A big step towards solving the fossil fuel dependency of boats, and which can be solved using renewable energy resource. So let us understand how it works. Energy Observer has 3 primary sources of electricity.

1. Solar panel: 202 m2 of the boat is covered with solar panels and the panels are strong & rigid enough to sustain 2-3 adult standing on it.

2. Hydrogen tanks or Hydrogen Cells: It can store hydrogen, and use it as a fuel when ever necessary.

3. Wind Energy: Just like ships in 18th century ships used winds to travel with the use of sails, the same principle so as to save as much as on the fuel ( it has 2 ocean wings)

The key fuel is Hydrogen, so how does it produces hydrogen, the answer is very simple and right in front of you, a boat is going to sail in ship and oceans and the most abundant resources in ocean and sea is water.

First, it collects water, then by using filters it filters for the purpose of further use and then it uses a very well known and very well studied process of Electrolysis.

So now by using electrolysis it separates Hydrogen(H) and Oxygen(O) from Water molecule (H20) And then releases the oxygen in the atmosphere. And the collected hydrogen is stored in the 8 storage tanks that can be used as hydrogen battery

And then the other source is the solar panel (202 m2of the boat is covered with solar panels), which produce enough electricity that the boat can use the energy developed by solar energy for 4 days without any need to use the hydrogen mentioned above. Which is also done by using a smart power system which provides power to specific places in the boat whenever required and disconnects when out of service this increases the efficiency even more. Now to keep maintain power and transfer it to places when required a dedicated electrical engineer is present near to console always to keep a close on the system.

Other than that, it also saves energy using the ocean wings and use the wind to move.

This boat is the 1st step in the direction of renewable sources being used in ships, boats, yachts and possibly replacing fossil fuel.

Just take into consideration, cities like Varanasi (Banaras) in India have more than 100’s of boat at the shores of Ganges using petrol, diesel of some form of fossil fuels and the distance they travel is not a lot too, solar panels or hydrogen cells can be used just like it is the energy observer in order to decrease their dependency on fossil fuels and the pollution the engine causes which uses such fuels.

Fishing boats can be build using the same concepts as used in Energy Observer, or in the boats or ferry’s used for people to travel small distances in countries like Indonesia, Philippines or other countries which use boats very regularly.

Just think the amount of fuels that can be saved and the independency from petroleum fuels and also the pollution it causes.

Electrical boats, ships are the future.
